Producing It's Fun! - Producing Collaboration - 2023
Collaboration is something I love to be a part of and in March 2023, following some complaints and questions from Second-year students. I'd worked closely with Kirsten Reed throughout our time at university, helping and confiding within one another. During our time at Falmouth, we'd collaborated with a variety of people across our course and others.
It was felt there hadn't been much of an opportunity for guidance in the area of producing specifically; We approached the course staff with the suggestion of holding a workshop for First and Second-year students interested in the prospect of producing. I and Kirsten discussed some of the things we'd like to show students, such as spreadsheet basics, how to visually improve resources, and how each file will differ depending on a project.

With staff support and informing students, Kirsten began putting together a basic presentation for the workshop, Both of us provided resources we'd created and used during our time at the university, but also explaining things such as graduate opportunities and key resources we'd found to make life just that little bit easier. We followed up with each other beforehand to discuss what we'd present on each slide and key points to make and discuss. I and Kirsten took turns presenting and discussing different styles and resources used in 2D, CG, and Stop-motion animation and how each of them can differ but also resources that all teams will need.
Overall it was a good turn out we had a total of 15 students attend, a 90-minute workshop. we took time to let people ask questions and really get into some of the nitty-gritty things such as social responses and fine details of producing. But all the attendees came away with a smile on their faces and all seemed much more confident about their roles and had a better understanding of the basic resources and planning involved with short film projects. Since the workshop, I've been approached by 2 students for 1 to 1 support and guidance alongside my own projects discussing and answering questions and showing them a few further tips and tricks for spreadsheets too. This has been a great experience, though and Kristen work together supporting each other with our own projects it was a really fun experience working directly together on this project.
